The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the first book in Stieg Larsson’s best-selling Millennium series, is being adapted for the big screen in English by director David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network) and stars Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as bad-ass Lisbeth Salander. Swedish versions of all three films in the series have already been released, and Noomi Rapace, the actress who played Salander in those films, got major accolades for her performances, including a BAFTA nomination.
By the looks of the trailer and the “She’s Coming” tag, you would think Salander’s character is a psycho serial killer, a la Freddy Krueger. The first red-band trailer is making its rounds online: the book is quite dark, and I think Fincher will do Larsson’s book justice, but I am confused by the slasher flick approach the studio is taking to promote the film.
What do you all think?
